How Nike tells its story, and why I keep running with them
As a runner, I am picky about my gear. When it comes to my shoes, I always choose Nike Air Pegasus. These shoes have carried me through countless miles, and there is a reason I keep going back to them.
Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign is legendary for a reason. It’s more than just a catchy slogan. It’s a powerful message of inspiration and persistence. Whether you are an elite athlete or someone just starting out, that phrase pushes you to dig deeper, to keep going when it gets tough. And that is exactly why it has stuck around for over 30 years. Check out one of the company’s original videos here.
What I admire about Nike is that they don’t just focus on the wins, they focus on the journey. Their stories showcase real people overcoming challenges, whether they are world-class athletes or everyday runners like me. Nike’s message is clear: it doesn’t matter how fast or how far you go—what matters is that you just do it. It’s a story of grit, determination, and pushing your limits, no matter where you’re starting from.
From a branding perspective, Nike’s storytelling is genius. It’s simple and relatable. Whether you’re running your first mile or training for your tenth marathon, it is your story. And as someone who hits the pavement in Nike running shoes most days, I feel that connection every time I run.
